Master Your Emotion Help You Make Clear Decision

master your emotion

Mastering your emotion can be tricky sometimes. There are instances that you are feeling blue after a delightful day that you had. Sometimes our emotions make our decision and action complicated. Some beliefs say emotions are positive and manageable forces that are present in our lives. It can also be “confusion” that somehow ruins our decision and feelings because of uncertainties. Emotion plays an essential role in our mental and behavioral status. The feelings that we feel each day equate to how we take action in a particular situation. That influences the decisions that we make.

Master Your Emotion In Different Situations

There are different roles that emotion plays in emotional responses. Here are some of them to better understand our reactions towards a specific occurrence:

1. Positive and Negative Emotional Response

Some emotions can motivate us to take action for a specific event. If you are in the middle of anxiety, like facing a problematic examination, your emotional response would be to study. It is to have a good grade and take action to prepare for the test. That can also be a manifestation of experiencing positive and negative emotions. If you want to achieve happiness, mastering your emotional response would be to do something joyful. On the other hand, if you don't want to have that negative feeling, avoid being engaged in sad situations.

Emotion affects our decision-making. It is an everyday routine starting from what food to eat on breakfast to the pair of socks you want to wear for the entire day. Our decisions can make or break us. That is why we must not let our emotions overlap the right decision that we should make. Studies found that people with certain types of brain damage affect their ability to experience emotion. That results in the incapacity of an individual to make the right decision.

2. Understanding Emotion When Communicate

Emotion allows us to understand other people. When we are putting ourselves in the shoes of others, we can have a deeper understanding of where they are coming from. Social communication is part of our daily lives. It allows us to interpret and respond accordingly to someone who is communicating with us. Mastering your emotion gives us a clear notion of how we will react in a given situation. For example, you are talking to someone grieving; therefore, your emotional response would be something that can subside their loneliness or make your presence felt like a friend to lean on. Sensitivity and clarity is the key to successful social communication.

3. Emotions You Should Avoid When Making Decisions

Mastering your emotion comes with various purposes. It can be so meaningful and life-changing. They can serve as motivation in different ways. Emotional responses are tools that we need to engage meaningfully in our society. Though emotion is indeed important, let us first consider other factors before we make a decision. Just like what the old saying states, “Don't make promises when you're happy, and don't make decisions when you're mad.” Think twice, or it would be better if you do it later or the next day.
